As of March 31, the average 30-year primary fixed mortgage rate was just above 6.50%, higher than the prior month by about 50 basis points.

As of February 28, the average 30-year primary fixed mortgage rate was just above 6%, but lower than the prior month by about nine (9) basis points.
The average 30-year primary mortgage rate is currently at slightly above 6%. Just one year ago, the rate averaged about 6.86%. Mortgage rates appear to be holding steady since the start of 2026 as economists and investors wait for more news
