Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Position Summary

MCT is seeking a seasoned, hands-on Chief Financial Officer to serve as the senior financial leader of the organization. This is a working CFO role — one where the right candidate is equally comfortable setting financial and corporate strategy, as well as rolling up their sleeves to execute it. As the CFO of MCT’s capital markets and technology-driven business, this role demands deep expertise in capital markets accounting, hedge advisory financial operations, and the financial mechanics of the mortgage secondary market. The CFO will serve as a key executive partner to the CEO, owning the full financial function and providing the analytical rigor, operational discipline, and strategic insight needed to run a high-performing, transaction-intensive business.

The ideal candidate is a CPA with a proven track record in capital markets and hedge advisory accounting, a thorough understanding of how mortgage assets are priced, hedged, valued, and reported, and the credibility to operate effectively at the executive level.

Job Duties

The CFO will have direct, end-to-end ownership of MCT’s full financial operations, including weekly cash management, monthly financial reporting and variance analysis, payroll and commission oversight, tax coordination, annual audit and budgeting process, and executive-level reporting for leadership and quarterly business reviews (QBRs). Throughout the year, the CFO actively monitors mortgage industry forecasts, supports capitalization of internally developed software, and prepares financial materials for clients, prospects, and auditors.

Beyond day-to-day financial execution, the CFO plays an active role in shaping how MCT measures and manages the business. This includes partnering closely with the CEO and members of the executive team on financial strategy, capital allocation, and long-term planning; advising department leaders on budget performance and financial decisions; and serving as the primary liaison to external auditors, tax advisors, and financial counterparts. The CFO is also responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of the organization — ensuring accounting policies are current, internal controls are sound, and the company is positioned to operate with transparency and accuracy at every level. In a business as transaction-intensive and market-sensitive as mortgage capital markets, the CFO must be equally fluent in the numbers and the business context behind them.
